The New York State Police are on the hunt for a missing woman who intentionally entered the grand Niagara River that is just above the iconic falls.

The news comes just a week after a mother jumped to her death after pushing her two young kids in.

Several witnesses spoke about the incident and how they reported seeing the mystery individual on Goat Island just above the Horseshoe Falls.

This is the largest of the three waterfalls that collectively make up the Niagara Falls around 2 pm on Wednesday.

An immediate search of the area began using a Park Police drone. This included searches on the foot of the gorge and the visual searches conducted by the overlooks as mentioned by the state police.

The Park Police rang the alarm and alerted the state police of what was taking place. This put all authorities on alert to prevent any such incident like that seen last week from arising.

The tragedy from last week had left the world stunned as many wondered what the mother could have gained by putting her life and her kids’ lives to an end in this tragic incident.

More investigations revealed how she was suffering from a serious mental health condition that arose after her post-partum period.
